Stove Top Yeast Muffins

Ingredients

  • flour
  • warm new milk
  • water
  • yeast
  • salt

Method

  1. 1 Mix flour, warm milk, water, yeast, and salt to form a stiff batter. Beat well with a wooden spoon.
  2. 2 Set the batter near a heat source to rise for about one hour.
  3. 3 Beat the batter down again and let it rise a second time until very light.
  4. 4 Heat flat round muffin irons with coals underneath. Sprinkle a table with flour.
  5. 5 Drop batter onto the floured surface, shape into rounds, and place in the hot irons to bake.
  6. 6 When one side is done, turn the muffins with a knife and bake the other side.
