Stove Top Yeast Muffins
Ingredients
- flour
- warm new milk
- water
- yeast
- salt
Method
- 1 Mix flour, warm milk, water, yeast, and salt to form a stiff batter. Beat well with a wooden spoon.
- 2 Set the batter near a heat source to rise for about one hour.
- 3 Beat the batter down again and let it rise a second time until very light.
- 4 Heat flat round muffin irons with coals underneath. Sprinkle a table with flour.
- 5 Drop batter onto the floured surface, shape into rounds, and place in the hot irons to bake.
- 6 When one side is done, turn the muffins with a knife and bake the other side.
