Stewed Plaice With White Wine And Lemon
Ingredients
- Plaice (cleaned)
- Claret or white wine
- Butter
- Sweet herbs
- Nutmeg
- Pepper
- 1 onion
- Salt
- Beaten butter
- Sliced lemon
Method
- 1 Clean the plaice and place them in a stew-pan or pipkin.
- 2 Add claret or white wine, butter, sweet herbs, nutmeg, pepper, onion, and salt.
- 3 Stew gently until cooked through.
- 4 Serve on toasted bread slices (sippets) with beaten butter and sliced lemon.
