Stewed Onions In Red Wine
Ingredients
- 20-30 onions
- 1 bunch sweet herbs
- Salt to taste
- Few cloves
- 1 laurel leaf
- 1 piece butter
- Flour (for rolling butter)
- 1 pint red wine
- Toast slices
Method
- 1 Boil onions with sweet herbs, salt, cloves, and laurel leaf for 15 minutes. Remove onions.
- 2 Place onions in a stew-pan with salt, butter rolled in flour, and red wine.
- 3 Stew for another 15 minutes. Serve garnished with toast dipped in the sauce.
