Stewed Beef Steaks With Wine And Onions
Ingredients
- 1 beef loin cut into steaks
- ½ cup Claret or white wine
- ½ cup water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 3-4 whole onions
- 1 bundle of sweet herbs
- 1-2 large pieces mace
Method
- 1 Place beef steaks in a deep stewing pan. Add wine, water, salt, pepper, whole onions, sweet herbs, and mace.
- 2 Cover the pan tightly and stew on low heat for 2 hours, turning the steaks occasionally.
- 3 Serve the steaks and sauce over toasted bread slices (sippets).
