Stewed Apple Sauce Over Boiled Rice
Ingredients
- 1 lb rice
- 12 apples
- 2 oz sugar
- ½ cup water
- 1 tbsp butter
- lemon peel
Method
- 1 Tie the rice loosely in a pudding cloth to allow room for swelling.
- 2 Boil the rice for about one hour until tender.
- 3 While rice boils, peel apples and place in a saucepan with water, butter, lemon peel, and sugar.
- 4 Stew the apples over heat, stirring occasionally, until they dissolve into a sauce.
- 5 Turn the cooked rice onto a dish and pour the apple sauce over it.
