Stewed Apple Sauce Over Boiled Rice

Ingredients

  • 1 lb rice
  • 12 apples
  • 2 oz sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • lemon peel

Method

  1. 1 Tie the rice loosely in a pudding cloth to allow room for swelling.
  2. 2 Boil the rice for about one hour until tender.
  3. 3 While rice boils, peel apples and place in a saucepan with water, butter, lemon peel, and sugar.
  4. 4 Stew the apples over heat, stirring occasionally, until they dissolve into a sauce.
  5. 5 Turn the cooked rice onto a dish and pour the apple sauce over it.
