Steamed Whole Wheat Golden Syrup Pudding
Ingredients
- 10 oz whole wheat flour
- 3 eggs
- 1 pint milk
- 1/2 lb golden syrup
- butter for greasing
- buttered paper and cloth for steaming
Method
- 1 Grease a pudding basin and pour the golden syrup into the bottom.
- 2 Whisk the milk, flour, and eggs together to form a smooth batter.
- 3 Pour the batter carefully over the syrup in the basin without stirring.
- 4 Cover the basin with buttered paper and a cloth (or metal lid), then steam in boiling water for 2.5 hours.
- 5 Briefly dip the basin in cold water to loosen, then invert onto a plate to serve.
