Steamed Vanilla Sponge Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • a little salt
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 ½ teaspoons flavoring

Method

  1. 1 Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
  2. 2 Beat in the eggs and salt, then mix in the milk and flavoring.
  3. 3 Stir in the baking powder and flour until just combined.
  4. 4 Pour the batter into a greased pudding mold.
  5. 5 Steam for one hour until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
  6. 6 Serve warm with your preferred sauce.
