Steamed Oysters With Melted Butter

Ingredients

  • 1 dozen salt oysters or clams
  • 1 quart boiling water
  • Melted butter, for serving
  • Steaming liquid from oysters/clams

Method

  1. 1 Scrub the oysters or clams clean with a stiff brush under cold water.
  2. 2 Place a colander in a deep saucepan and add one quart of boiling water.
  3. 3 Fill the colander with the cleaned bivalves and steam until they open.
  4. 4 Serve one dozen steamed oysters or clams in a deep soup plate.
  5. 5 Accompany with a small saucer of melted butter and a cup of the steaming liquid.
