  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons drippings
  • 1 cup water, meat stock, or milk

Method

  1. 1 Sift the flour, salt, and baking powder together in a bowl.
  2. 2 Cut in the drippings until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. 3 Gradually add your chosen liquid (water, stock, or milk) to form a soft dough.
  4. 4 Roll out the dough and place on a greased pan, then steam for 20 minutes.
  5. 5 Alternatively, drop dough into stew and cook covered for 30 minutes. Serve immediately.
