Steamed Or Stewed Dumplings
Ingredients
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 teaspoons baking powder
- 2 tablespoons drippings
- 1 cup water, meat stock, or milk
Method
- 1 Sift the flour, salt, and baking powder together in a bowl.
- 2 Cut in the drippings until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 3 Gradually add your chosen liquid (water, stock, or milk) to form a soft dough.
- 4 Roll out the dough and place on a greased pan, then steam for 20 minutes.
- 5 Alternatively, drop dough into stew and cook covered for 30 minutes. Serve immediately.
