Steamed Molasses Raisin Pudding

Ingredients

  • 1 cup raisins, stoned and chopped
  • 1 cup butter, chopped
  • 2 ½ cups flour
  • 1 cup Porto Rico molasses
  • 1 cup sweet milk
  • 1 scant teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • A little nutmeg

Method

  1. 1 Prepare a steaming mold by greasing it lightly.
  2. 2 Combine the chopped raisins, butter, flour, molasses, milk, soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  3. 3 Mix the ingredients thoroughly until a uniform batter forms.
  4. 4 Pour the batter into the prepared mold.
  5. 5 Steam the pudding in a pot of boiling water for two hours.
  6. 6 Serve hot with your preferred sauce.
