Steamed Ladyfinger Custard With Raisins

Ingredients

  • 12 ladyfinger biscuits
  • 1 oz granulated sugar
  • 1 pint milk
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Butter for greasing
  • Raisins or preserved cherries for decoration

Method

  1. 1 Grease a 1.5-quart mold with butter. Line the bottom and sides with raisins or cherries.
  2. 2 Whisk eggs, yolks, milk, sugar, and vanilla together until well combined.
  3. 3 Break ladyfingers into pieces. Layer biscuits and custard in the mold, alternating until full.
  4. 4 Cover the mold with buttered parchment paper. Steam gently for 1 hour.
