Steamed Custard Eggs With Jam
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons cream or new milk per egg
- 1 teaspoon strawberry, raspberry, or currant jam per egg
- 1 thin slice buttered toast per egg
- Sugar to taste
- Vanilla to taste
Method
- 1 Butter individual cups, using one cup per egg.
- 2 Place jam in the center of each cup.
- 3 Beat eggs with cream (or milk), sugar, and vanilla, then divide the mixture into the cups.
- 4 Cover each cup with buttered paper and place in a stew-pan with boiling water reaching halfway up the sides.
- 5 Steam for 8 to 10 minutes until set.
- 6 Turn eggs out onto buttered toast and serve hot or cold.
