Steamed Clams With Melted Butter
Ingredients
- 4 quarts live clams in shell
- 1/2 cup hot water
- Melted butter for serving
- Lemon juice or vinegar (optional)
Method
- 1 Wash clams thoroughly, scrubbing with a brush and changing the water several times until clean.
- 2 Place clams in a large kettle with 1/2 cup hot water. Cover closely and steam until shells partially open.
- 3 Serve immediately with individual dishes of melted butter. Add a few drops of lemon juice or vinegar if desired.
