Steamed Chocolate Bread Pudding
Ingredients
- 3 cups stale bread
- 3 cups milk
- 2 squares chocolate
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 3 eggs, beaten
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
Method
- 1 Soften the stale bread in the milk.
- 2 Melt the chocolate over hot water.
- 3 Mix the melted chocolate with sugar, salt, beaten eggs, and vanilla.
- 4 Combine the chocolate mixture thoroughly with the soaked bread.
- 5 Place the mixture into well-buttered custard cups.
- 6 Steam for about 30 minutes, depending on the size of the cups.
- 7 Serve in the cups or turned out onto a warm plate.
