Stale Oatmeal Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups oatmeal
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup molasses
  • ½ cake yeast
  • wheat flour (as needed)

Method

  1. 1 Boil oatmeal with salt as if making porridge. Let cool.
  2. 2 Stir in molasses and crumbled yeast. Add wheat flour until the dough is very stiff.
  3. 3 Place dough in two greased pans. Let rise in a warm place until very light.
  4. 4 Bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Do not cut until the next day.
