Spiced Wine Fruit Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup white wine
- 1 cup hot water
- sugar to taste
- zest of ½ orange
- zest of ½ lemon
- ½ cup seedless raisins
- 1 tbsp shredded almonds
- 1 tbsp finely shredded candied orange peel
- 1 tbsp finely shredded candied lemon peel
Method
- 1 Combine wine, hot water, sugar, orange zest, and lemon zest in a saucepan. Bring to a boil.
- 2 Remove from heat. Discard the orange and lemon peels.
- 3 Stir in raisins, shredded almonds, and candied orange and lemon peel. Cover and let stand for 30 minutes.
- 4 Reheat to a boil just before serving. Serve warm with puddings.
