Spiced Raisin Walnut Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 1 cup Crisco
- 1 cup chopped raisins
- 1 cup chopped English walnut meats
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp powdered cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp powdered allspice
- 1 tsp powdered ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 2 tbsp sour milk
- 5 cups flour
Method
- 1 Cream Crisco and sugar together. Add salt and well-beaten eggs.
- 2 Mix baking soda with sour milk, then add to the creamed mixture along with spices, raisins, and nuts.
- 3 Add enough flour to make a stiff dough, about 5 cups total.
- 4 Roll out dough, cut with cookie cutter, and place on greased baking sheets.
- 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for 10 to 12 minutes.
