Spiced Pickled Beets
Ingredients
- 3 lbs beets
- 1 stick cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon whole allspice
- ½ cup sugar
- 6 whole cloves
- 1 pt vinegar
- ½ cup water
Method
- 1 Boil beets until tender, then remove skins.
- 2 Tie cinnamon, allspice, and cloves in a cheesecloth bag.
- 3 Heat vinegar, water, sugar, and spice bag to a boil.
- 4 Add beets to the liquid and boil for 5 minutes.
- 5 Pack beets into sterile jars and fill with hot liquid.
- 6 Seal jars immediately.
