Spiced Mulled Wine With Egg

Ingredients

  • 1 ounce cinnamon stick
  • A slight grating of nutmeg
  • ½ cup boiling water
  • 1 egg
  • ½ cup sherry, port, or claret wine
  • 2 tablespoons sugar

Method

  1. 1 Place cinnamon, nutmeg, and boiling water in the top of a double boiler. Cover and cook over hot water for 10 minutes.
  2. 2 Add the wine to the spiced water and bring to the boiling point.
  3. 3 Beat the egg to a stiff froth, add sugar, and pour onto the mulled wine while beating well.
  4. 4 Serve immediately.
