Spiced Lemon Tea Syrup

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon whole cloves, crushed
  • 2 inch piece stick cinnamon, broken in pieces
  • Cheesecloth
  • Juice of 2 lemons

Method

  1. 1 Combine water and sugar in a small saucepan and heat to boiling until dissolved.
  2. 2 Add cloves and cinnamon tied loosely in cheesecloth. Boil gently until syrup reaches 215°F.
  3. 3 Remove from heat and let cool. Stir in lemon juice.
  4. 4 Serve in a small bowl, adding 1 tablespoon of syrup to each cup of tea.
