Spiced Fig And Raisin Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup butter
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 4 eggs, well-beaten
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- ½ tsp powdered cloves
- 1 cup water
- 3 cups flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- ½ lb figs, finely cut
- 2 cups raisins
Method
- 1 Cream butter and brown sugar together.
- 2 Add well-beaten eggs, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, and water.
- 3 Sift in flour and baking powder.
- 4 Fold in flour-dredged figs and raisins.
- 5 Bake in a moderate oven (350°F) for two hours.
