Ingredients

  • 3 cups flour
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cake compressed yeast
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Warm water

Method

  1. 1 Dissolve yeast in 2 cups milk.
  2. 2 Beat flour, eggs, yeast mixture, butter, and sugar into a stiff batter.
  3. 3 Let rise for 5 to 6 hours.
  4. 4 Dissolve baking soda in a little warm water and stir into batter.
  5. 5 Pour into a buttered tube cake pan.
  6. 6 Bake for 45 minutes.
  7. 7 Serve hot, tearing apart instead of cutting.
