Sour Milk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons Crisco
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup sour milk

Method

  1. 1 Sift flour and salt into a bowl, then rub Crisco lightly into the mixture.
  2. 2 Stir baking soda into sour milk until it effervesces, then add to the flour mixture.
  3. 3 Turn out onto a floured surface and knead lightly until smooth.
  4. 4 Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut with a biscuit cutter.
  5. 5 Place biscuits on a greased tin and bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 12-15 minutes.
