Sour Cream Strawberry Shortcake

Ingredients

  • 1 quart white flour
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in a little water
  • Sweetened strawberries
  • Whipped cream

Method

  1. 1 Mix flour, cold butter, salt, and sugar. Stir in a mixture of beaten egg and sour cream.
  2. 2 Dissolve baking soda in water and mix into the dough quickly. Roll lightly into two round sheets.
  3. 3 Place rounds on pie tins and bake in a hot oven (425°F) for 20-25 minutes.
  4. 4 Split the baked rounds, spread sweetened berries between layers and on top, and cover with whipped cream.
