Soft Molasses Gingerbread Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream or milk
  • 1 cup New Orleans molasses
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tsp allspice
  • 1 tsp cloves
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 2 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp baking soda

Method

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Cream butter and brown sugar, then beat in eggs.
  2. 2 Mix in sour cream (or milk) and molasses until combined.
  3. 3 Whisk together flour, allspice, cloves, ginger, cinnamon, and baking soda.
  4. 4 Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
  5. 5 Spread batter evenly onto two baking sheets.
  6. 6 Bake for 10-12 minutes or until edges are firm. Cool before serving.
