Slow Oven Baked Nutmeg Custard
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups milk
- 2 oz lump sugar
- 3 eggs, lightly beaten
- grated nutmeg or lemon peel, to taste
Method
- 1 Boil milk and sugar together in a saucepan.
- 2 Pour the boiling hot milk mixture over the lightly beaten eggs, stirring gently.
- 3 Add grated nutmeg or lemon peel for flavor.
- 4 Pour the custard into an ungreased tart dish.
- 5 Place the tart dish in a larger pan filled three-quarters full with boiling water.
- 6 Bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 40 minutes, or until the custard is firm.
