Slow Cooked Rice Pudding With Raisins

Ingredients

  • 1 quart milk
  • 1 teaspoon butter
  • 1/3 cup rice
  • 1/8 teaspoon grated nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup raisins (optional)

Method

  1. 1 Combine milk, butter, rice, nutmeg, salt, and sugar in a pudding pan.
  2. 2 Place the pan in a cooker pail of water and heat until the water boils.
  3. 3 Remove the pan and bring the pudding mixture to a boil.
  4. 4 Return the pudding to the large pan of boiling water, cover, and cook for 3-4 hours.
  5. 5 Optionally brown in the oven before serving.
