Slow-Baked Molasses Gingerbread Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup molasses
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda dissolved in 1/2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon cloves
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
Method
- 1 Beat molasses, sugar, and shortening hard to blend.
- 2 Pour batter into a well-greased and floured pan.
- 3 Bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 35 minutes.
