Slow Baked Boston Beans With Salt Pork
Ingredients
- 1 quart dried beans
- ½ pound salt pork
- 1 tablespoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- ½ teaspoon dry mustard
- 2 tablespoons molasses
- 4 cups cold water
Method
- 1 Wash and soak beans overnight.
- 2 Place half the beans in a bean pot.
- 3 Wash salt pork and place it in the center of the pot.
- 4 Add the remaining beans, salt, pepper, mustard, molasses, and 4 cups of cold water.
- 5 Cover the pot and bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 8 hours, adding more water if needed.
