Slow Baked Beans With Salt Pork

Ingredients

  • 1 lb dried beans
  • 1 can tomatoes
  • 1 cup chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup syrup
  • 1 lb salt pork, cut in pieces
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1 tbsp paprika

Method

  1. 1 Soak beans overnight. Drain, cover with water, boil, then drain.
  2. 2 Cover beans with fresh water, boil for 15 minutes, then drain.
  3. 3 Combine beans, tomatoes, onions, syrup, salt pork, salt, and paprika.
  4. 4 Add enough water to cover beans by one inch. Mix well.
  5. 5 Cover pot closely and bake in a slow oven (300°F) for 4 hours.
