Sliced Cucumbers With Onions And Cloves
Ingredients
- large cucumbers, sliced ½ inch thick
- salt
- onions, sliced
- mustard seed
- white pepper
- whole black pepper
- cloves
- strong vinegar
Method
- 1 Slice cucumbers lengthwise (or across if small) into ½-inch thick pieces. Do not peel.
- 2 Place cucumbers in a large jar, sprinkle generously with salt, and let stand for 1-2 days.
- 3 Pour off the extracted liquid, drain cucumbers, and wash the jar.
- 4 Pack cucumbers into the clean jar alternately with sliced onions, mustard seed, white pepper, black peppercorns, and cloves.
- 5 Pour strong vinegar over the mixture, seal tightly, and store in a cool place.
