Simmered Beef And Vegetable Broth
Ingredients
- 1 lb beef (cut into small pieces)
- 1 quart water
- 1 piece onion
- 1 piece carrot
- 1 piece turnip
- 1 sprig parsley
- Thyme and marjoram
- Pepper and salt to taste
- 1.5 oz flour (optional, for thickening)
Method
- 1 Cut beef into small pieces. Place beef, vegetables, herbs, and water in a stewpan.
- 2 Simmer very gently for four hours.
- 3 Strain the liquid. If a thick gravy is desired, whisk in flour and season with pepper and salt.
