Shredded Fig Spice Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp powdered cinnamon
- 3 cups flour
- 1/2 cup Crisco
- 3 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp grated nutmeg
- 1 cup shredded figs
Method
- 1 Wash and dry the figs, then shred them.
- 2 Cream the Crisco and sugar together.
- 3 Add well-beaten eggs and beat for five minutes.
- 4 Sift the dry ingredients and add to the mixture alternately with the milk.
- 5 Stir in the figs and flavorings.
- 6 Pour into a greased and floured cake tin.
- 7 Bake for one hour in a 350°F oven.
