Shredded Fig Spice Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp powdered cinnamon
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup Crisco
  • 3 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp grated nutmeg
  • 1 cup shredded figs

Method

  1. 1 Wash and dry the figs, then shred them.
  2. 2 Cream the Crisco and sugar together.
  3. 3 Add well-beaten eggs and beat for five minutes.
  4. 4 Sift the dry ingredients and add to the mixture alternately with the milk.
  5. 5 Stir in the figs and flavorings.
  6. 6 Pour into a greased and floured cake tin.
  7. 7 Bake for one hour in a 350°F oven.
