Shallow Pan Vanilla Sponge Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ cup sugar
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- ½ cup milk
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons shortening
Method
- 1 Sift together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- 2 Add milk, beaten egg, and melted shortening; beat for 2 minutes.
- 3 Pour into a greased shallow pan and bake in a hot oven (425°F) for about 20 minutes.
- 4 Serve with lemon, chocolate, or other sauce.
