Sesame Ginger Tofu And Broccoli

Ingredients

  • 1 pound firm tofu
  • 4 teaspoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled and minced
  • 2 scallions, green and white parts chopped
  • 1 head broccoli, broken into florets with stems chopped
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh cilantro or basil leaves

Method

  1. 1 Cut tofu into 8 pieces. Place on paper towels and drain for 20 minutes to 2 hours.
  2. 2 Heat 2 teaspoons oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook tofu until golden, about 3 minutes per side. Remove to a plate.
  3. 3 Add remaining 2 teaspoons oil to the skillet. Sauté garlic and scallions until golden, about 2 minutes.
  4. 4 Add broccoli and water. Raise heat to high and cook until tender, about 4 minutes.
  5. 5 Return tofu to the pan. Add soy sauce, red pepper flakes, and cilantro. Stir well and serve.
