Schmierkase And Cress Finger Sandwiches
Ingredients
- 1/2 lb schmierkase (Swiss cheese)
- 4 tbsp heavy cream
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/8 tsp pepper
- White bread slices
- Pumpernickel or rye bread slices
- Fresh cress (for garnish)
Method
- 1 Place schmierkase in a bowl and rub until perfectly smooth.
- 2 Add cream, melted butter, salt, and pepper gradually, mixing well to form a spread.
- 3 Butter slices of white bread and trim off crusts.
- 4 Spread a layer of cheese mixture on the buttered bread.
- 5 Top with a thin layer of pumpernickel or rye bread, then another thin layer of cheese.
- 6 Cover with another slice of buttered white bread and press lightly together.
- 7 Cut into finger-shaped sandwiches and garnish with fresh cress before serving.
