Savoy Sponge Cake
Ingredients
- 1 cup finely sifted sugar
- 4 egg yolks
- 1 ½ cups fine dry sifted flour
- 4 egg whites
- Butter and sifted sugar for greasing pan
Method
- 1 Beat 1 cup finely sifted sugar with 4 egg yolks until thick.
- 2 Lightly stir in 1 ½ cups fine dry sifted flour.
- 3 Fold in 4 egg whites beaten to a very strong froth.
- 4 Pour into a buttered and sugared tin (no more than half full).
- 5 Bake for 30 minutes.
