  • sardines (skin removed)
  • round of toasted bread
  • 1 gherkin
  • 1 hard-boiled egg, finely chopped

Method

  1. 1 Remove skin from sardines and pound them into a smooth paste.
  2. 2 Spread a thick layer of the sardine paste over the toasted bread.
  3. 3 Slice the gherkin very thinly and arrange overlapping slices around the edge.
