Sally Lunn Buns
Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 cups milk
- ½ cup sugar
- 1 cake compressed yeast
- 5 eggs, beaten separately
- ½ cup melted butter
- Additional flour as needed
Method
- 1 Dissolve yeast in milk. Mix with flour, salt, and sugar to form a batter. Let rise in a warm place for 3 hours.
- 2 Gradually work beaten eggs and melted butter into the risen batter.
- 3 Add enough flour to create a stiff batter. Fill buttered muffin tins two-thirds full.
- 4 Let rise again, then bake in a moderate oven (350°F) until golden brown.
