Rye Meal Gems
Ingredients
- 3/4 cup rye meal
- 1/4 cup white flour
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 2 egg yolks
- 1 cup sweet milk
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 2 egg whites
- Butter for greasing
Method
- 1 Mix rye meal, flour, salt, egg yolks, milk, and sugar in a bowl.
- 2 Beat the mixture hard, then fold in egg whites beaten to stiff peaks.
- 3 Heat gem pans, brush with butter, and pour in batter.
- 4 Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.
