Rye And Whole Wheat Bread

Ingredients

  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 tablespoons fat
  • 6 cups rye flour
  • 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 cake yeast

Method

  1. 1 Add sugar, fat, and salt to the boiling water. Let cool until lukewarm.
  2. 2 Dissolve yeast in the lukewarm water, then add to the sugar mixture.
  3. 3 Stir in rye and whole wheat flour until a dough forms. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk.
  4. 4 Shape into loaves, let rise again until doubled, and bake in a moderately hot oven (425°F) for 40 minutes.
