Rye And Whole Wheat Bread
Ingredients
- 2 cups boiling water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 cup lukewarm water
- 2 tablespoons fat
- 6 cups rye flour
- 1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
- 1 cake yeast
Method
- 1 Add sugar, fat, and salt to the boiling water. Let cool until lukewarm.
- 2 Dissolve yeast in the lukewarm water, then add to the sugar mixture.
- 3 Stir in rye and whole wheat flour until a dough forms. Cover and let rise until doubled in bulk.
- 4 Shape into loaves, let rise again until doubled, and bake in a moderately hot oven (425°F) for 40 minutes.
