Rose Water Nutmeg Shortbread Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 lb butter
  • 1 ¼ lb flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 ¼ lb sugar
  • 1 glass rose water
  • 1 nutmeg
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Method

  1. 1 Rub butter into flour until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  2. 2 Beat eggs with sugar until very light and fluffy.
  3. 3 Mix beaten eggs into the butter and flour mixture.
  4. 4 Stir in rose water and grated nutmeg.
  5. 5 Roll dough into rings and bake in a slow oven (300°F) until set.
  6. 6 Sift powdered sugar over the cookies while warm.
