Rose Water Baked Custard With Puff Pastry

  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp freshly grated nutmeg
  • 1 tsp rose water
  • 1 sheet puff pastry, cut into strips

Method

  1. 1 Preheat oven to 350°F. Butter a 1-quart baking dish.
  2. 2 In a saucepan, heat cream and butter over medium heat until butter melts. Remove from heat.
  3. 3 Whisk in eggs, sugar, salt, nutmeg, and rose water until smooth and thin.
  4. 4 Pour mixture into the prepared dish. Arrange pastry strips around the rim.
  5. 5 Bake for 30-35 minutes until set and golden brown.
