Rolled Vanilla Sugar Waffles

Ingredients

  • 6 egg whites
  • dash of salt
  • ½ lb flour
  • water as needed
  • vanilla extract
  • butter or oil for greasing
  • powdered sugar for dusting

Method

  1. 1 Whip egg whites with a dash of salt to stiff peaks.
  2. 2 Mix flour with enough water to make a thin batter, then stir in vanilla and whipped egg whites.
  3. 3 Heat a gauffre (waffle) iron and grease well with butter or oil.
  4. 4 Pour thin batter into the iron, close, and bake on both sides over hot coals or heat source.
  5. 5 Remove gauffres, roll immediately while hot, and dust with powdered sugar.
