Method

  1. 1 Place unpeeled onions directly on the stovetop hobs or in a hot oven (400°F). Roast, turning occasionally, until tender and cooked through, about 30-40 minutes.
  2. 2 Remove from heat. Peel away the outer charred skin and split the onions open.
  3. 3 Add a pat of butter, salt, pepper, and a few drops of vinegar. Serve immediately.
