Roasted Chestnuts With Lemon And Sugar

  • large chestnuts
  • powdered sugar
  • water
  • lemon juice

Method

  1. 1 Cut a slit in the shell of each chestnut and roast in a charcoal furnace until done, being careful not to burn them.
  2. 2 Peel the roasted chestnuts and place them in a pan with powdered sugar and a very little water.
  3. 3 Simmer over a slow fire for about 15 minutes.
  4. 4 Remove chestnuts to a dish, squeeze lemon juice over them, and sprinkle with powdered sugar.
