Red Wine Poached Prunes With Whipped Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 lb prunes
  • 1 cup water
  • ½ bottle light red wine
  • ¼ lb sugar
  • pinch cinnamon or mixed spice
  • whipped cream for serving

Method

  1. 1 Soak prunes in water for 24 hours.
  2. 2 Drain prunes and place in a pot with 1 cup water, wine, sugar, and spice.
  3. 3 Stew over low heat until liquid reduces and prunes are tender and flavored.
  4. 4 Let cool completely, then serve in a glass dish topped with whipped cream.
