Raisin Cake With Water Icing
Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- ¾ cup shortening
- 5 egg yolks
- 3 teaspoons baking powder
- 5 cups flour
- 1 cup milk
- 1 package small seedless raisins or currants
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 5 egg whites
- water-icing
Method
- 1 Cream sugar and shortening until light lemon color.
- 2 Add egg yolks, baking powder, flour, milk, raisins, and salt; beat just to mix.
- 3 Cut and fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
- 4 Pour into a lined, greased, and floured square pan.
- 5 Bake in a 350°F oven for one hour.
- 6 Ice with water-icing and slice while soft.
