Raisin Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 5 tablespoons Crisco
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • Buttermilk as needed
  • 1 cup sultana raisins

Method

  1. 1 Sift flour, salt, soda, and cream of tartar into a bowl.
  2. 2 Rub in Crisco until fine, then add sugar, raisins, and beaten eggs.
  3. 3 Add buttermilk to form a soft dough.
  4. 4 Shape into a smooth mound, roll out, and divide into four pieces.
  5. 5 Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.
