Raisin Buttermilk Biscuits
Ingredients
- 4 cups flour
- 5 tablespoons Crisco
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 2 eggs
- Buttermilk as needed
- 1 cup sultana raisins
Method
- 1 Sift flour, salt, soda, and cream of tartar into a bowl.
- 2 Rub in Crisco until fine, then add sugar, raisins, and beaten eggs.
- 3 Add buttermilk to form a soft dough.
- 4 Shape into a smooth mound, roll out, and divide into four pieces.
- 5 Place on a greased baking sheet and bake at 350°F for 25 minutes.
