Quick White Bread

Ingredients

  • 1 cup scalded milk
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 3 yeast cakes
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg white
  • 3 to 4 cups flour

Method

  1. 1 Mix scalded milk, butter, yeast, sugar, salt, and egg white to make a sponge. Let stand in a warm place until full of bubbles.
  2. 2 Add flour and knead for twenty minutes. Mold into a loaf and place in a baking pan.
  3. 3 Let rise until double in size, then bake.
